Since the late 1990s, Gary Carlton has been a defining force in shifter kart racing, first rising to prominence as a factory driver for Trackmagic and later competing for some of Europe’s most prestigious manufacturers. With victories and podiums around the world, he is regarded as one of the most accomplished American shifter kart drivers in history. In late 2017, Gary transitioned from driver to manufacturer, launching Team GFC and the GFC chassis brand. In just a few years, GFC has become one of North America’s most respected karting programs, combining world-class engineering with a commitment to driver development. In 2024, GFC earned FIA Homologation, confirming its chassis meets the highest global standards for innovation, safety, and performance.

A Bay Area native, Sonny Cervelli has been dedicated to karting since the age of five, accumulating over 23 years of experience in the motorsports industry. As Director of Operations at GFC, he applies his deep technical knowledge and proven leadership to oversee every aspect of the program—from product testing and data analysis to driver development and performance. Respected for his consistent drive to refine skills and strategies, Sonny dedicates countless hours to video study and research, breaking down race footage to extract insights that give GFC drivers and equipment a competitive edge. His meticulous attention to detail ensures that both team operations and on-track results consistently perform at the highest level. Outside of racing, Sonny is a passionate music enthusiast and live-event goer. His drive for precision and curiosity also spills into his personal life, whether refining his espresso technique or exploring new ways to deepen his understanding of motorsports.

Jason Berry began his karting journey in Northern California in 1995, at the age of 19, competing in KT100s, Briggs 206s, and shifters. His racing career highlights include a 2nd-place finish at the 2001 SKUSA SuperNationals, a 3rd-place finish at the SKUSA Amateur Nationals, and multiple NorCal championships. Professionally, Jason has held roles with PowerWorks Racing Engines, KLS Racing, and spent 15 years at SwedeTech Racing before joining GFC Karting. In his role as Admin & Operations Coordinator, he oversees day-to-day operations and customer communications, ensuring drivers and teams receive the highest level of support. Known around the paddock as a reliable “floater,” he’s just as likely to be found helping at the parts trailer or supporting trackside logistics as he is grabbing the first plate of food.
